Stonefish epiphanies and other stories with Dave McKeon

For Episode 13 of The Musicians' Hour, which is out now, I had the pleasure of interviewing the very interesting and talented Dave McKeon - a singer songwriter based in Dungarvan Co. Waterford.

Dave popped into the Community Radio Youghal studios to have a chat with me about his music and to perform some of his songs live.

Dave is a teacher, who started playing the guitar during the COVID-19 pandemic. We had a great chat about the artists that have inspired him, and how learning the guitar enabled him to transition from writing poetry, to creating songs.

We listened to songs by some of Dave’s favourite musicians, talked about his online platform ‘The Western Terrace Sessions’ and went into great depth on his creative process, while also enjoying some wonderful live acoustic performances of his original songs.

It was a really enjoyable conversation with some interesting insights into the very nature of creativity. Dave even shared a deeply moving story about the epiphany he experienced, after a devastating encounter he had with a stonefish.
